Description:
Students study the origins of the office of emperor in the Roman Revolution and trace its evolution from Rome’s first emperor Augustus down to the end of the Western Roman Empire. Students also study the role of Rome’s emperors in forging a Greco-Roman world through the Pax Romana and examine the implications of the Pax Romana for subsequent developments in the history of Europe and the Near East. This course may be credited towards History.
