CLAS 4436  Theory and Method in Classical Studies Research

Prerequisites:

18 credits in Classical Studies with at least six credits at the upper year level.

Restrictions:

Students must be enrolled in an Honours Program in Classical Studies.

Hours:

Three hours of seminar per week for one term.

Credits:

Description:

Students undertake an intensive examination of the materials and methods used in Classical Studies research such as material culture, textual criticism, literary analysis, epigraphy, and numismatics. Students also study the theories and methods employed by scholars in other disciplines and learn how to integrate that knowledge into their own research projects.
