Description:

Students learn and use the skills of close reading to analyze at least one paragraph-length passage from a larger work of prose fiction. They identify literary devices that contribute to meaning. They learn to analyze and explicate the relationship of a selected passage of a text to the text as a whole. They learn to transfer their skills to the analysis of other passages of prose fiction on sight.
