Three hours of lecture per week or equivalent for a total of 12 hours.

Description:

Students learn and use the skills of close reading to analyze at least one scene from a play. They identify literary devices that contribute to meaning. They learn to analyze the relationship of a selected part of a text to the text as a whole. They learn to transfer their skills to the analysis of other plays on sight.
