Description:
Threaded through most religious traditions has been a notion of justice concerning our responsibility to others. Students develop critical social justice tools for engaging with religious ideas specifically around our duty to non-human animals. Students consider the role of non-human animals, both literally and symbolically, in religious imaginaries and whether or not there a meaningful difference between religious and secular considerations of non-human animals. This course is also offered as GEND 2256.
