Hours:
Three hours of seminar per week for one term.

Description:
This course explores how anthropologists have problematized the once taken-for-granted division between nature and culture, stressing that human beings should not be considered separately from the more-than-human communities in which they live. It examines ethnographic works that position animals, plants, fungi and microbes both as cultural entities and as agents of history. Topics may include: domestication and wildness, the cultural life of pets, and biotechnology.
