Description:

Students examine the evolution of early Christian literature beginning with the New Testament, the early Church Fathers, and martyr narratives. Students study the complex interrelationships between established genres of Pagan GrecoRoman literature and the emergence of a distinctively Christian literature and culture. Students also explore the emergence of Christian literature and culture in the context of the historical, cultural, social, and intellectual environment of the wider Roman Empire between the First and Fifth Centuries CE.
