Students explore conceptual frameworks that incorporate the perspectives of functionalism, conflict-critical theory, symbolic interactionism, phenomenology, feminism, post-structuralism, globalization, and various collective action problems. Students not only become familiar and conversant with contemporary sociological theories, but also be able to utilize them to better understand and explain the freedoms and constraints individuals and groups experience within the 21st Century.
