Description:
Students examine the history of the rise of the Secret Security State from its modern foundations in the Great War to the post-Cold War era. The course features a close study of British, American and Soviet experiences and students consider questions about the relationship between increasing state power and the role of secrecy in democratic and authoritarian societies.
