Honours Specialization in Sociology

Graduation Requirements:

In addition to the program requirements listed below, students must also satisfy the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree requirements, which include regulations on first year and subject maximum and breadth requirements.


Program Requirements:

Students will need to achieve a minimum 70% average in the 60 credits presented for the Honours Specialization in Sociology.

Students must complete 120 credits including 60 credits in the Honours Specialization as follows:
SOCI 1016 Introduction to Sociology 3 cr.

SOCI 2016 or

SOCI 2017

Exploring Social Conflict and Solidarity or

Communication, Power, and Capital

3 cr.
SOCI 2126 Introduction to Sociological Research Methods  3 cr.

SOCI 2127 or

SOCI 3036

Quantitative Research Methods or

Qualitative Research Methods

3 cr.
SOCI 4000 level*   6 cr.
SOCI Any level*   42 cr.

*Students may choose to pursue one or more of the concentrations listed below. The credits used for the concentration can be used towards the SOCI any level and SOCI 4000 level requirements.


Breadth Requirements and Electives:

A maximum of 6 credits of cross-listed courses may count toward an Honours Specialization in Sociology.
